Rostrevor Parkrun 2018
September 1st 2018
5 km run
Despite the 09:30 (Irish!) start and staying five minutes run from the start, I still ended up rushing to this run. Being so close also didn't omit the need for a pre run loo trip (thank you baby). Let's just say thank goodness this was a woodland park, although I realised afterwards my loo spot was in a designated area called "Narnia". Oops!
The run started without too much fuss, and blissfully ignorant of the elevation I strode my way around the first lap, watching the field surprisingly disappear around me. By the second and final lap there were only a few people in sight, and in fact I nearly took a wrong turn trying to find the finish! However, find it I did, and to my surprised I was first lady!
This was only my second unassisted parkrun "win" (yes yes, its not a race, I know) and at nearly 7 months pregnant too - chuffed!
Less pleasing was the fact that there was no timing done for this event, making it my default slowest at 59:59. Grrr.
I followed-up the run with a tough day of mountain biking the trails around the park - what a lovely place, shown at its best with sunny weather and stunning views.
