September 11th 2016 400m swim, 24k bike, 5.3k run Last race of my 2016! And what a long but enjoyable course... Not scenic by any means, but well marshalled, nicely undulating and fantastic weather conditions (no wind, sun but plenty of shade on the run, cool). March 1st 2015 Finished! Half Marathon This was an undulating half marathon based in Coventry. The organisation was a bit questionable. For instance, they lined us up in three start pens (< 1:45, 1:45-2:00, >2:00) but then let all start pens start at the same time, rather than letting one out completely then starting the next. What was the point? Also, I don't eat/drink during a half, but had I wanted to, a feed station halfway up the last mile-long hill would not have been appreciated! Saying that, the course was generally quite nice, going right out into the countryside. It was a long slog up to the 8 mile mark and after that it was generally downhill, apart from a painful out-and-back around 9 miles. I had to sprint the last 5 miles to get under 2 hours, but it was totally worth it for the PB. I had high expections for my "Premium" goodybag - don't be fooled! It had in it a packet of crisps and a cereal bar... But the medal is reasonably nice. ...
